Delta Kiss marks the beginning of the close collaboration
between Louis and arranger Daniel Manners, previously involved as
a bass and double-bass player. The album was completed in a matter
of 3 weeks at Momentum Studios, West London; engineered by Ken Brake,
Delta Kiss was mixed by keyboardist and producer Gerard Johnson,
who had then worked with bands like The Sundays and The Sugarcubes,
and who is now the unofficial 5th member of post-modern pop combo
Saint-Etienne...This is the first album of Louis' to feature the
Covent Garden String Quartet, which has since become a fixture on
his recordings. Of note is the inclusion of Wichi Tai To,
a cover of the late Jim Pepper classic - itself an arrangement of
a traditional Sioux war chant.
