Recorded by Nick Terry at Chiswick Reach Studios in January '96,
Jackie Girl was mixed by Mute Records ace sound designer
Paul Kendall at Rooster the following month, with the exception
of Deauville, an orchestral out-take from the Sunshine
1994 sessions. Jackie Girl was inspired by one of Louis's all-time favourite singers, American songwritress Jackie de Shannon
- whose lovely face adorns the CD sleeve... Jackie Girl called
on by far the biggest orchestral forces ever to appear on a Louis
Philippe album, with the extra edge of XTC's guitar virtuoso Dave
Gregory and erstwhile Jesus And The Mary Chain drummer Richie Thomas
(now with The Lilacs). Arranging duties were shared between Louis
and the ever-present Danny Manners. This album is also available
through Siesta Records (Siesta 56) in Europe since 1997.
